Google’s phone directory assistance can save you a couple of bucks next time you’re searching for a business number.
Dial 1-800-GOOG-411 from any phone (mobile or land line) for a free, automated business directory system. It uses voice recognition and will give you the number and connect you for free.
If you like, it will also send a text message with more information and a link to a map of the business you’ve selected.
I’ve used GOOG-411 several times, and it’s pretty handy.
One caveat: the voice recognition (understandably) gets a little flaky when you use it in a car full of screaming children.

If you want to get better voice-rec on an auto-411 service, I think you should try 1800free411, at least for april. A call this april enters you into a plane ticket giveaway. then maybe you can google-map where you want to go with said tickets haha

When it comes to free directory assistance, you have LOTS of choices, including the mix of automation & operators. They differ in some other important ways, too, so try them all out and see which one(s) you prefer. You may want to try them all every so often just to see what’s new! Grin!
I prefer the ones that have operators to help when the automation doesn’t recognize me and that also don’t restrict me to only business searches - sometimes I need to find people, too!
