It’s been an incredibly busy couple of weeks.

I taught a three-day Risk Management class in Arlington last week, which necessitated a five thirty a.m. wake-up and one-hour commute.

My parents arrived on the last day of that class for a week-long visit, so I needed to get the house cleaned, shopping done, etc. before my class started.

My in-laws (eleven people) will be staying at our house this weekend and start arriving today.  My parents leave tomorrow, thus creating a nine-hour guest group overlap (and no down time.)

In-law sleepovers require an extra level of prep and cleaning (cleaning out closets, hanging pictures, etc.) that needed to be completed before I could clean for my parents, then teach my class, then entertain my folks, then entertain the in-laws.

Oh, and before that we had guests at the lake house, which requires even greater hostess ninja skills, since the lake house is two hours away, and thirty minutes drive from the closest grocery store.  The packing and prep work required for a weekend there is no small matter.

I can’t remember what I was working on before the lake house trip, but again I’ll say that it’s been a busy couple of weeks.  I’ve started two volunteer projects and I’ve been working on getting the lake house ready for the rental season.

I don’t know if I feel more like a project manager (look at all those start-to-finish relationships, lag, and lead time considerations!), a supermom, the old lady who swallowed a fly, or just a dumbass who takes on too much.  Probably a little of each, heavy on the dumbass!

Today I’ve done lots laundry, got the kids showered and in the car for school, had the piano tuned, cleaned the house, planned twelve meals, delegated the cooking of two lasagnas and a dessert to my poor, kind, mother, scarfed a lean cuisine, updated my blog (in process), and felt bad about not getting a dozen other things done.

And I’m just getting warmed up.

So sorry for not posting much over the last couple of weeks.  Believe me, I wished that I had the time.  Look for more from me next week.  Or whenever life returns to a more manageable level of activity and chaos.
